Tito Ortiz Arrested For DUI

Tito Ortiz Arrested For DUI

Ultimate Fighter Champion mega star Tito Ortiz was busted for a DUI (driving under the influence) yesterday morning.  To make matters worse,  he crashed his 2012 Porsche Panamera into a cement highway median….Ouch poor Tito, injured neck and expensive car repairs!

According to LA law enforcement, Jacob Christopher,  aka Tito Ortiz, was heading home around 4am after celebrating all night at the BCS Football party at the Playboy Mansion.  LA County Sheriffs located Tito and his two passengers on the shoulder of freeway 405 in his wrecked vehicle.  Tito was suspected of drunk driving and was subjected to the DUI field sobriety tests.  The 38-year-old also blew into the portable breathalyzer test which revealed a BAC level of .12.  California State’s legal drinking limit is .08, the same as Washington State’s.

Tito was arrested for DUI and hauled into a local police station.  Tito’s bail was set at $15,000.00 which he posted later that morning.

It doesn’t appear that anyone was seriously hurt during the accident, lucky for Tito.  Unlucky for Tito, ex-wife Jenna Jameson, has recently voiced she is going to use Tito’s recent DUI arrest as leverage to regain custody of their two boys, fearing for the boy’s safety.  Today she said, “A lot of people think he’s this fantastic guy … it’s just not true.”  Jameson is not the most reliable source, she has an extensive history of crazy-erratic behavior.

It is definitely in Tito’s best interest to hire a well qualified DUI defense attorney.  Not only will the DUI lawyer handle his DUI case but the lawyer will also be able to provide sound legal advice for dealing with his ex-wife if issues should arise.

DUI Follow Up – Lamar Odom Pleads “No Contest”

DUI Follow Up – Lamar Odom Pleads “No Contest”

Apparently, L.A. prosecutors and judges are “Lammy” fans because they gave the 6’10” pro basketball player a decent deal for his DUI (driving under the influence) charge he acquired back in August.  The deal – Lamar Odom  plead “no contest”, aka “guilty”, to the DUI charge today in court and in return he was sentenced to 3 years of probation, required completion of a three-month alcohol education class, and ordered to pay $1,800.00 in court costs and penalties.  “Nolo contendere” is a legal term that comes from the Latin for “I do not wish to contend.” It is also referred to as a plea of of no contest. In criminal trials in certain U.S. jurisdictions, it is a plea where the defendant neither admits nor disputes a charge, serving as an alternative to a pleading of guilty.  A no-contest plea, while not technically a guilty plea, has the same immediate effect as a guilty plea, and is often offered as a part of a plea bargain.

What does this mean for 34-year-old Lamar?  For starters, Lamar will have a DUI on his criminal record.   No vacations to Canada for Lamar!  FYI – Canada does not allow individuals convicted of a DUI into their country for 10 years.  Secondly, Lamar will have to keep his hands clean for three long years while on probation.  If Lamar is convicted of any new criminal charge  or caught consuming any amount of alcohol while on probation, Lammy will be in violation of his probation and will have enhanced criminal punishments.   Thirdly, Odom must complete the three-month alcohol education class by June 9th 2014.  These classes take up time and money, but Lamar has plenty of both, so completing this class shouldn’t be an issue, maybe he will even learn something while there.  If he fails to complete the class by June 9th, Lamar will have to return to court for violating court orders.  And lastly, Lamar will need to pay $1,800.00 to the court system for fees and penalties which is pocket change to the millionaire pro athlete, who unlike most athletes saved the majority of his millions.

How is this a deal for Odom?  By taking this deal, Lamar avoids having to go to trial.  Generally, when an individual decides to take their case to trial they are subjected to increased consequences if they are found guilty.   Preparation for trial can be lengthy and can continue a case for months, by taking the deal, the case is done and over.  Lamar also avoids any time behind bars.

Good luck Lammy, you have a long three-years ahead of you.  Your best chances to avoid probation violations are to stay out of the lime light, use your long legs to run from paparazzi, and no more drunk driving.

NFL Player Dwayne Bowe Charged With Possession of Marijuana

NFL Player Dwayne Bowe Charged With Possession of Marijuana

This past Sunday shortly before midnight, Dwayne Bowe, wide receiver for the Chiefs, was pulled over by Kansas City police for speeding 48 mph in a 35 mph zone.  When the police officer approached Bowe’s car to collect license and registration information, the officer allegedly smelled heavy odors of recently smoked marijuana drafting from the interior of the luxury car.

The smell of marijuana provided reasonable suspicion for the officer to search the pro football player’s Audi A8 with a police dog.  Two containers of marijuana were discovered, one held 6.6 grams of product and the other contained 3.8 grams.  Bowe was arrested and charged with speeding and possession of marijuana.  One of two passengers in the car was also arrested and charged with possession of marijuana.

According to the arresting officer’s report, Bowe admitted to smoking “a little weed” while at the Kansas City Airport.  The officer also noted that Bowe asked him if the nearby Sonic fast food joint was still open.

-Apparently, Bowe and his buddies were stoned, hungry, and were in a huge hurry to get to Sonic before it closed at midnight.-

Bowe was released from jail on $750.00 bail and has his first court appearance set on December 18th.

Lucky for Chief fans, Bowe will not face any football league suspensions at this time for the possession of marijuana charge and will be allowed to play in this Sundays highly anticipated game against the Broncos.  According to the Collective Bargaining Agreement, Bowe will have his case handled by the court system before the NFL or Chiefs can impose any disciplinary actions.

Bowe is also lucky that he wasn’t charged with DUI (driving under the influence) of marijuana.  Technically, the officer could have investigated the 29-year-old for DUI since Bowe verbally admitted to smoking “a little weed” and the officer smelled recently smoked marijuana inside car.

Since his arrest, Bowe has released a short apology statement to the public, “I apologize to the Hunt Family, Coach Reid, my teammates and Chiefs fans for the distraction I have caused the team this week… Due to the nature of the pending matter, I am unable to make any further comment on the situation.”

In Washington State, it will be legal on December 6th 2013 for all persons age 21 and older to possess any combination of: one ounce of marijuana, 16 ounces of marijuana in solid form or 72 ounces in liquid form, according to the Washington State Liquor Control Board.
