NFL Player Dwayne Bowe Charged With Possession of Marijuana

NFL Player Dwayne Bowe Charged With Possession of Marijuana

This past Sunday shortly before midnight, Dwayne Bowe, wide receiver for the Chiefs, was pulled over by Kansas City police for speeding 48 mph in a 35 mph zone.  When the police officer approached Bowe’s car to collect license and registration information, the officer allegedly smelled heavy odors of recently smoked marijuana drafting from the interior of the luxury car.

The smell of marijuana provided reasonable suspicion for the officer to search the pro football player’s Audi A8 with a police dog.  Two containers of marijuana were discovered, one held 6.6 grams of product and the other contained 3.8 grams.  Bowe was arrested and charged with speeding and possession of marijuana.  One of two passengers in the car was also arrested and charged with possession of marijuana.

According to the arresting officer’s report, Bowe admitted to smoking “a little weed” while at the Kansas City Airport.  The officer also noted that Bowe asked him if the nearby Sonic fast food joint was still open.

-Apparently, Bowe and his buddies were stoned, hungry, and were in a huge hurry to get to Sonic before it closed at midnight.-

Bowe was released from jail on $750.00 bail and has his first court appearance set on December 18th.

Lucky for Chief fans, Bowe will not face any football league suspensions at this time for the possession of marijuana charge and will be allowed to play in this Sundays highly anticipated game against the Broncos.  According to the Collective Bargaining Agreement, Bowe will have his case handled by the court system before the NFL or Chiefs can impose any disciplinary actions.

Bowe is also lucky that he wasn’t charged with DUI (driving under the influence) of marijuana.  Technically, the officer could have investigated the 29-year-old for DUI since Bowe verbally admitted to smoking “a little weed” and the officer smelled recently smoked marijuana inside car.

Since his arrest, Bowe has released a short apology statement to the public, “I apologize to the Hunt Family, Coach Reid, my teammates and Chiefs fans for the distraction I have caused the team this week… Due to the nature of the pending matter, I am unable to make any further comment on the situation.”

In Washington State, it will be legal on December 6th 2013 for all persons age 21 and older to possess any combination of: one ounce of marijuana, 16 ounces of marijuana in solid form or 72 ounces in liquid form, according to the Washington State Liquor Control Board.

49ers’ Aldon Smith Charged with Possession of Marijuana and DUI, Now Suspended Indefinitely From Team

49ers’ Aldon Smith Charged with Possession of Marijuana and DUI, Now Suspended Indefinitely From Team

This past Friday, pro football player Aldon Smith, linebacker for the 49ers, was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana and DUI (driving under the influence).  Despite the arrest, the 49ers allowed Smith to play in Sundays game against the Indianapolis Colts.  When the game ended, Smith returned to the locker room to discover his locker was empty.  Decisions had been made by 49ers’ CEO, Jed York, to punish the 23-year-old by immediate suspension from the team “indefinitely.”

Smith was arrested Friday morning at 7am in the morning by San Jose police.  Allegedly a witness saw Smith crashed his Bentley into a tree and called 911 to report the accident.  No one was hurt during the collision and Aldon walked away uninjured.  However, police suspected Smith of drunk driving.  Smith failed the DUI field tests and the breathalyzer test revealed BAC level of .15, almost twice the legal limit of .08.  Aldon Smith was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana and DUI.  Smith was booked into county jail and bailed out later that day.

This is Aldon’s second DUI arrest, his first DUI charge occurred in Miami in January of 2012.

Aldon released statements after Sunday’s game addressing his DUI and possession of marijuana arrest saying “First off, I wanted to apologize to the team, the organization, my family and everybody I let down. I also wanted to let it be known that this is a problem and it’s something that I will get fixed, and that I’ll do everything in my power to make sure that this never happens again.”

Rumor has it Aldon Smith has already sought out an alcohol treatment program to get help.  Jed York stood by Aldon stating, “Again, I’ll support our players as long as they’re willing to work toward getting better and being better teammates, better members of the community. I believe that Aldon wants to do that, and I will support him and I will stand by him as long as that’s what he’s willing to do.”

Smith will need an experienced DUI and criminal defense lawyer to navigate through these new DUI and possession of marijuana charges.  If found guilty of the DUI, Aldon Smith may suffer an even longer football suspension enforced by commissioner Roger Goodell, who considers a DUI a high level concern.

WWE Champ Arrested for Marijuana DUI

WWE Champ Arrested for Marijuana DUI

Mississippi police had the ultimate smackdown on WWE champ Jack Swagger when they arrested him last night for DUI (driving under the influence) and possession of marijuana.

World Wrestling Entertainment star Jack Swagger, real name Jacob Hager, had just finished taping a TV episode of “SmackDown” when he was pulled over by Biloxi Mississippi police for speeding.  Law enforcement claimed they could tell Swagger was DUI on marijuana (not an alcohol related DUI) giving them probable cause to search Swagger’s 2013 Ford Taurus.  Police found marijuana in Swagger’s budget friendly ride which led to Swagger’s arrest.

“The All American American” wrestler was charged with misdemeanor counts of speeding, DUI, and possession of marijuana.  Swagger was later released on his own recognizance.

The WWE’s reaction to Swaggers legal charges seemed minimal as they released the statement, “Mr. Swagger is responsible for his own personal actions.”

However, Jack isn’t completely off the hook with the WWE, according to their Wellness Policy “Any WWE Talent, who is arrested, convicted or who admits to a violation of law relating to use, possession, purchase, sale or distribution of drugs will be in material breach of his/her contract with WWE and subject to immediate dismissal.”

With a successful growing career on the line, Swagger better hire a DUI defense attorney that can put a prosecutor in a good pile drive to get his case dismissed!
