Robbie Knievel DUI in a MOTOR HOME?

Robbie Knievel DUI in a MOTOR HOME?

This story takes the cake, it’s so unbelievable, yet somehow so believable.  Robbie Knievel, son of the famous daredevil Evil Knievel was arrested a few days ago for DUI.  Here’s the catch, Robbie was driving a motor home while under the influence and crashed it into multiple mobile homes and then fled the scene without stopping once.  The city of Sturgis police later found Robbie in a parking lot near the scene of the crime still inside his RV texting on his phone.  So crazy, did Robbie not realize he ran a large vehicle into large objects “houses” and think he could drive off without anyone knowing?

According to South Dakota police reports, Robbie may not have known what he was doing since he was obliterated while driving the motor home, he blew a 0.228 (three times the DUI legal limit) shortly after failing the DUI field sobriety tests.  Robbie, also a daredevil like his father, was arrested and charged with DUI.  I wouldn’t be surprised if he was charged with hit and run and reckless driving on top of the DUI charges.

South Dakota has already suspended his driver’s license and fined him $600.00.

Talk about a stunt that should never be repeated, Robbie is lucky he didn’t hurt anyone.

DUI Arrest in King County

DUI Arrest in King County

DUI Campaign: “Drive Hammered, Get Nailed”  This is the campaign King County has been involved in for at least two years.  According to the Washington Traffic Safety Commission, a total of 364 motorists were arrested for investigation of driving under the influence (DUI) in King County.  Statewide, 1603 drivers were arrested for investigation of DUI during the “Drive Hammered, Get Nailed” campaign, which ran from August 17 to September 3.

If you were arrested for a DUI in King County out of the following cities: Auburn, Bellevue, Black Diamond, Burien, Clyde Hill, Covington, Des Moines, Duvall, Enumclaw, Federal Way, Issaquah, Kent, Kirkland, Maple Valley, Mercer Island, Newcastle, North Bend, Pacific, Port of Seattle, Redmond, Renton, Sammamish, SeaTac, Seattle, Snoqualmie and Tukwila, as well as the State Patrol, you may have been an involuntary participant in this campaign.

A grant from the Traffic Safety Commission paid for the extra patrols.

I’m not sure if it’s because I’m a defense attorney or not but whenever I hear of “campaigns” of this type I begin to wonder what is the true intent of the participants.  Is it for public safety or for government funding?  It just seems so easy to disguise the end goal to generate government funds through concerns for “public safety.”  Didn’t we lose some other privacy rights based on this?

Snaps! Bobby Brown’s 2nd DUI This Year.

Snaps! Bobby Brown’s 2nd DUI This Year.

It was only seven months ago when the New Edition singer, Bobby Brown, was charged with DUI and court ordered to complete a summer alcohol rehab program.  Snaps, I guess the rehab program didn’t work because the police pulled the star over around 1 am on Wednesday for a traffic violation and smelled a heavy odor of alcohol on his breath, DUI number two for 2012!  Unfortunately, Bobby Brown opted to take the field sobriety tests on Ventura Blvd, CA, and failed.

If Bobby had heeded the advice of Seattle DUI defense attorney David O, he would have known that the field sobriety tests are voluntary and he could have refused, therefore the test results could not be used against him in court.

According to nydailynews.com, Bobby Brown was cooperative with the officer and was taken to the station, booked, and released within hours after posting $25,000 bail.  If found guilty of a second DUI, Bobby will be facing some serious consequences and jail time.  Here are the DUI tips from David O Defense in Seattle Washington.  Hopefully Bobby Brown catches wind of these.

  1. Be respectful to the officer.
  2. Don’t make any incriminating statements.  For example, “I feel wasted!” or “I’m so drunk!”
  3. Refuse to take the DUI field sobriety tests.  They are voluntary.
  4. Do not take the portable breath test, this test is also voluntary.
