Erin Brockovich Charged with Drunk Driving While Boating

Erin Brockovich Charged with Drunk Driving While Boating

Calling all boaters, it is illegal to drive a boat while under the influence of alcohol with a BAC level above .08.  Instead of receiving a DUI (driving under the influence) charge, an individual suspected of drunk driving a boat would be charged with a BUI (boating under the influence).

Just last week, Erin Brockovich, who’s dramatic life story was portrayed by actress Julia Roberts, was booked with BUI when a Lake Mead game warden approached her boat to investigate a yelling match occurring between herself and her husband.  Not only did the Nevada game warden hear yelling and screaming, but he watched Erin throw her cell phone into the water and then slap her husband across the face.

The warden suspected possible BUI, noting Erin’s slurred speech and odor of alcohol.  When asked to dock her boat, Erin replied to the warden, “not very good at driving,”  The warden himself assisted Erin and her husband with docking the boat safely.

Erin’s breathalyzer test reveled BAC levels of .186 and .190, twice the legal limit!  Brockovich was arrested and charged with BUI.

In remorse of her drunk driving decisions, Erin released the following statement.  “I apologize for my actions Friday evening. After a day in the sun and with nothing to eat it appears that a couple of drinks had a greater impact than I had realized. It is very important to note that I was not operating the boat in open waters, I was moving it within its own slip. At no time was the boat away from the dock and there was no public safety risk. That being said, I take drunk driving very seriously, this was clearly a big mistake, I know better and I am very sorry.”

In Washington State a BUI charge is a misdemeanor charge.  BUI maximum penalties include 90 days in jail and/or a $1000.00 fine.

Justin Bieber a Menace in Calabasas – Reckless Driving, Smoking Marijuana, Assault

Justin Bieber a Menace in Calabasas – Reckless Driving, Smoking Marijuana, Assault

As of recent, pop icon, Justin Bieber, has become a terror in his Calabasas California neighborhood.   Police are becoming all too familiar with the singer as they have been called to investigate accusations of reckless driving, smoking marijuana on public sidewalks, and assault on a neighbor.

Back in March, Justin Bieber was confronted by one of his prestigious neighbors, Jeff Schwarts an auto mogul, for his ongoing reckless driving and driving at speeds around 100 mph down Calabasas streets.  In response, Justin allegedly assaulted Jeff by spitting on him and threatening to kill him.  Jeff’s wife, Suzie Schwartz shared her Bieber disgust with reporters, “He’s a punk.  He thinks he’s invincible.”  Police have finished their investigation and now it’s on the LA county District Attorney’s office to file assault charges.

During this past holiday weekend, JB managed to piss off former NFL superstar neighbor Keyshawn Johnson by reckless driving throughout their gated community in his Ferrari.  Keyshawn, who was driving a Prius, reportedly followed Justin to his home and blocked the Ferrari in the driveway with his fuel-efficient car.  Keyshawn got out of his car to confront Beibs about his dangerous reckless driving, but Bieber ran scared into his home and wouldn’t come out. Other witnesses observed the same erratic driving and verified Justin was the driver and it appeared he was high on marijuana. Keyshawn Johnson is fired up, stating Justin is “playing with dynamite.”  Seriously concerned for his children’s safety, Keyshawn plans on working with law enforcement to end Bieber’s reckless driving and menacing ways.

Additionally over the weekend, neighbors supposedly saw Justin and a friend smoking marijuana while driving Segways side by side, right in front of neighborhood kids!

Community members are sick of Bieber’s juvenile behavior and banding together, irritated neighbor Eric Dickerson, NFL Hall of Famer, sent tweets of “Justin Bieber needs to slow his ass down.” The community plans on initiating new rules through the homeowner’s board to discourage Justin’s dangerous illegal ways.

Justin needs to grow up fast and slow way down to 25 mph!

Seattle Seahawks’ Josh Portis Released from Team due to DUI Charge

Seattle Seahawks’ Josh Portis Released from Team due to DUI Charge

Josh Portis, backup quarterback, is already feeling repercussions from the DUI (driving under the influence) arrest he received on “Cinco de Mayo” May 5th.  As of yesterday, the Seattle Seahawks officially announced Portis had been released from the team because of his DUI run-in.  Portis not only threw away his prestigious position of professional backup quarterback but also the $480,000.00 annual salary that went along with it, OUCH!  Josh has yet to play in a professional game.

According to Washington State police reports, on May 5th around 9:30PM Josh Portis was driving 80 mph in a 60 mph zone heading eastbound on the I-90 floating bridge.  Washington State troopers pulled the 2008 Range Rover over for speeding, and when they approached the drivers’ window they reported there was “a strong odor of intoxicants coming from the vehicle” and the driver, Portis, had “watery bloodshot eyes.”  Troopers suspected drunk driving even though the 25-year-old athlete stated he did not have anything to drink and was on his way home from Seattle.   Portis agreed to take the field sobriety tests and refused the DUI breathalyzer test during the DUI investigation.

Josh Portis was arrested for DUI and was taken to the Washington State Patrol headquarters.  While there, Portis submitted two breath tests that revealed blood alcohol concentrations of 0.092 and 0.078.  The legal BAC limit in Washington State is 0.08.  Later Josh admitted to the arresting trooper that he did have tequila earlier that evening and that he lied earlier because he was nervous.  Portis was charged with a misdemeanor DUI.

Portis will need to hire a strong DUI defense attorney for his case, his career is depending on it.  With recent DUI tragedies in the local news, Washington State continues to lower its tolerance and sympathy for individuals who choose to drive drunk including professional athletes.
