Judge Throws The Book At Dina Lohan During Her DUI Sentencing

Judge Engel was obviously fed up with Dina Lohan when he lashed out during her DUI sentencing saying, “The only person responsible for this ordeal is Miss Lohan.  She is just lucky nobody was killed.  She may not be as lucky next time.”  And the only response to Judge Engels lecture was from Dina Lohan who replied, “There will not be a next time.”

Dina Lohan is well-known for being the troubled mother of her troubled daughter,  actress Lindsay Lohan.  Both Dina and Lindsay have had multiple run ins with the law, including DUI charges, and seem to spend a majority of their time in court rooms with their criminal defense attorneys.  Dina Lohan racked up her most recent DUI charge last September, when she was allegedly speeding 77 mph on a 50 mph road in Long Island, New York.  Reportedly her breath test result registered at .20, over twice the legal DUI limit of .08.  Just last month, on April 15th, Dina was accompanied by her defense lawyer and pled guilty to the DUI and speeding charges.

Earlier today, Dina Lohan was sentenced by Judge Engel for the DUI and speeding charge.  He ordered Lohan to 100 hours of community service and revoked her driver’s license for one year.  Judge Engel also ordered Lohan to have an ignition interlock device installed on her car for an additional full year once she becomes eligible to reinstate her drivers’ license.  According to courtroom sources, Dina will also have to attend a victims panel, complete a mandatory drinking and driving program, and finish paying court fines and fees.

Hopefully Dina Lohan will be responsible for her ordeal, and in her words, “There will not be a next time.”

Basketball Wives Reality Star Charged With DUI

Fame, fortune, and beauty are not enough to escape the wrath of a DUI breathalyzer result.  Nobody knows this better than, Sundy Carter, who provided a breathalyzer sample that revealed a breath test result of .18, over twice the legal DUI limit of .08.  Carter, known for multiple guest appearances on the hit reality TV show, Basketball Wives, was charged with DUI and was booked into the Glendale Police Department.

This past Memorial Day evening may have involved a little too much drinking and socializing for Sunday Carter, according to Los Angeles police reports, the 40 year-old reality star was seen swerving over a double yellow line and was driving westbound in the eastbound traffic lanes.  Law enforcement pulled Carter over around 1am Tuesday morning.  Officers suspected Carter of drunk driving, arrested her, and hauled her into the police station where they gave Carter the choice of providing a blood sample or a breath test sample to test for blood alcohol concentrations.  Carter chose to take the breath test.

Here in Washington State, law enforcement will not give an individual the choice of a blood sample or breath test sample when at the police department.  They only require a breath test.  If an individual feels that the police station’s breathalyzer results were inaccurate, that individual has the right to go to a hospital and pay for a blood draw that provides a much more accurate BAC (blood alcohol content) result.

Sundy Carter, ex-girlfriend of retired NBA player Larry Hughes, posted $10,000.00 in bail on Tuesday and was released. Rumor has it that Sundy Carter will officially join the cast of Basketball Wives for season 3 and hopefully her DUI charge will not affect her full-time reality TV opportunity.

Looking For A DUI or Criminal Defense Attorney? Don’t Be Fooled By Fake Reviews!

I received an email the other day from a company that solicits business with the subject line of “Your company deserves positive reviews.  We make it happen.”  Immediately, I was infuriated knowing other DUI and criminal defense attorneys would utilize this company to post FAKE REVIEWS on their websites, reviews that are essentially LIES about how great the lawyer was and how the client would undoubtedly recommend this lawyer to their friends and family.

Any attorney that pays a company for reviews is obviously not the attorney that their paid reviews are talking about… if they were so fantastic and got every criminal case dismissed (as described in their fake reviews) than that attorney would not need to pay for reviews, clients would be flocking to their computers to happily write reviews.

Don’t think this happens, here is more of that email I received, “Your company deserves some positive reviews.  Why?  Because it is currently one of the most effective ways to make your service found by more people.  92% of consumers do online research before selecting a service business.”  This company suggests ordering 100 lies or more, “Ordering any package with 100 or more reviews will get you 50% extra reviews in the first month.”  It happens more often than you may think.

Thus, if you are searching for a DUI attorney or a criminal defense attorney, please look at their reviews and BEWARE, ask yourself; 1) How many reviews does the defense attorney have, over 50, over 100? A red flag should immediately arise if an attorney has over 50 reviews in a short time span, these are most likely paid reviews. 2)  How do the reviews read?  Do they seem scripted, too perfect, and/or list too many great qualities about the defense lawyer?  If so, they are most likely paid reviews.  3) Or do the reviews appear to have been written by real clients, maybe revealing a grammar or spelling mistake here and there, perhaps the text displays a bit of personality or humor within it, and/or the review may list something personal within it portraying the client really did interact with the attorney.

Would you really want to hire a DUI defense attorney that had to purchase lies to make themselves look better?  Probably not.  If a defense lawyer is willing to lie about themselves and their business than they are likely to lie about other things and make false promises.
