Bad luck for former Colorado Rockies baseball great, Todd Helton, when charged with DUI early Wednesday morning while buying lotto tickets at a local gas station. Prior to Helton’s DUI arrest, an unknown source called the Colorado police to notified them of a black Ford F-150 (Helton’s truck) driving erratically, striking a median, and then parking at a gas station. When police reported to the scene, Helton came stumbling out of the gas station with lotto tickets in hand. According to the police reports, when officers asked Helton if he had been driving the pickup truck, Helton denied damaging the road median and continued with making “spontaneous statements of drinking two igloo cups of red wine.” Todd Helton, who earned 160 million dollars during his baseball career, was arrested and charged with 3 counts of DUI.
Todd Helton issued this apologies to his community and fans; “Last evening I exercised poor judgment and was charged with drinking and driving after driving to a gas station near my house. I am very sorry and embarrassed by my actions. I hold myself to a high standard and take my responsibility as a public figure very seriously. My entire career I have worked to set a positive example for my family and in our community and I fell far short of this standard. I sincerely ask my family, the Colorado Rockies Organization, Major League Baseball and the community to accept my apology.”
Funny he doesn’t mention anything about his lotto tickets…must not have won…booohooo! His mug shot tells the same story of misfortune, check it out!
